Shades of night fall upon my eyes
Lonely world fades away Misty night, shadows start to rise Lonely world fades away In my dreams your face is all I see Through the night you share your love with me Dreaming Visions of you Feeling All the love I never knew Here we are on the crossroads of forever Silent star lights the way Walk with me on the winds on time Love's mystery is for us to find Dreaming Visions of you Feeling All the love I never knew Go on dreaming .... Until the day, until the day I find you I won't rest, I won't let go Somehow, some way, I know I'll be beside you To warm my heart and fill my soul Go on dreaming |

Yngwie MalmsteenNotes
This was one of those lesser-known gems from quintissential guitar guru Yngwie Malmsteen. Ever dream of finding your true love? Well then, this song is for you! It can't hurt to dream about it anyway, right?
Ah...women. The pleasure...the pain. ;-) |

EnigmaNotes
I just love the music of Enigma. Mysterious...uplifting...adventurous...sometimes even haunting. A love from the past intoduced me to this song, and I have been hooked ever since. I knew someday I HAD to do a version of this song. We just killed the chanting monks (nothing personal) and added trumpet and some spooky guitar work. Now, it's less filling, AND tastes great! |

New OrderNotes
One of my favorite 80's pop/rock tunes of all time. This is where I get to paint on a pair of leather pants and take on the persona of a rock star. Well...kinda, sorta, maybe, huh?
I chose to keep the aggressive guitar licks because to water this song down would have been a tragedy of magnanamous proportions. It kind of reminds me of some of Al Vizzutti's Red Metal material. So, even though it may make the wine and cheese crowd nervous and scare women and children (especially when I rip up to a double-b), that's OK. You can just press <skip> on your CD player and all will be one with the earth again. Repeat after me: Ohhhmmmmm; Ohhhmmmmm; Ohhhmmmmm. See...all better. ;-) |

Allen VizzuttiNotes
I had to do this song for 2 reasons:
1) I love Al Vizzutti (not in that way dufus...get your mind out of the gutter!). 2) I adopted a furry feline named Miles (a black cat) from my talented drummer & co-producer Frank Briggs. Unfortunately, he has diabetes & I have to shoot him w/ insulin 2x daily and will be forwarding all of the medical bills to Frank soon. Just kidding Frank! This is one of the smooth-jazz-friendly pieces on the CD. I get a chance to breath again and wipe the blood and sweat off of my leather pants. Nice! So grab a good glass of wine or some single-malt, kick off your shoes and relax. Smoke-em if you got-em. |

Maynard FergusonNotes
This always reminds me of walking on the green pier in Avalon on Catalina Island. I have spent many a day there throughout my life. I hiked with the Boy Scouts through it's rough interior, all the while getting pricked by cactus and being chased by wild boar. I celebrated my 21st birthday there...can't remember much about that one. Did some great scuba diving there. Got the inspiration to chase this Smooth Jazz dream of mine by watching countless hours of great performers at the Catalina Jazz Trax Festivals. Even proposed marriage to someone there once. Ah, the memories.
Another relaxing smooth jazz tune to take in while sipping on a margarita. |

Paul Thomas YoderNotes
Cruisin' is the only original on the CD and I have to say that I am quite pleased at how it turned out. This simply started from a melody line in my head (how it managed to make itself heard through all the voices, I'll never know) and developed into a very cool groovalicious kind of tune with some bite to it. It's also the name of my band...whoever it may be at the time.
I love it when a plan comes together. DOH! |

The Wang Chung hit from the 80's. Getting the idea by now that I grew up in the 80's? Ah, you've been paying attention. Good. Keep following.
After sound-checking parts of this tune with a muted trumpet, Frank simply said, "That's it! That's how this tune should sound!". So, with some intrepidation, I went along with his suggestion. After nearly impaling a mute in the studio wall from all the back blow, and nearly passing out several times...the tune was finished. It even ended up sounding like a Greg Adams tune. And, Frank rewarded me with a nice cold beer afterwards so I cut him some slack. ;-) |

Stevie NicksNotes
This was another one of my favorite 80's pop/rock tunes from Stevie Nicks. What a babe. I really dug the driving bass-synth lines in the original and wanted to have a good solid bass line to drive the piece with energy. And, thanks to Michael Hakes, that's exactly what I got.
There is a key word to describing what makes my music different than most other smooth jazz music out there today...ENERGY. It is my mission in life to impart energy to the listener of my music. Whether it be peaceful constrained energy, or thought-provoking emotional energy, or raw passionate energy....that's what I want listeners to both hear AND feel; a surge of adrenaline. |

Baby, don't understand why we can't just hold onto each other's hands
This time might be the last if fear unless I make it all too clear…I need you so. Woahhhhh. Take these broken wings And learn to fly again learn to live so free. And when we hear the voices sing The book of love will open up and let us in. Take these broken wingggggs - Baby, I think tonight we can take what was wrong and make it right. Baby, it's all I know that you're half of the flesh And blood that makes me whole…I need you so. Take these broken wings . . .Yeahhh Let us in - let us innn - Baby, it's all I know That you're half of the flesh And blood that makes me whole Yeah…yeah…yeah…yeaah! Take these broken wings . . . Mr. MisterNotes
Ah, the broken relationship theme. Chances are, if you are a humanoid and have some kind of urge to merge (wink wink..nudge nudge..know what I mean?), this bug will end up biting you at some point in your life. Unless, of course you're Howard Stern or Snoop Dog.
For the rest of us, there is simply pain. But I do have some good news. I just saved a bunch of money on my car insurance by switching to Geico! Sorry, couldn't resist. Where was I? Ah, yes. Pain. Actually, I don't really think about it that much when I sing this song. I just like singing it! Thinking about it....that's YOUR job. So let's just both do our parts and agree not to be mad at each other when the song ends. OK? 8-) |
